For the first time ever a railway fare has broken the £1,000 mark according to Barry Doe, an expert in the fare structures used by train companies.
A study carried out by the Department of Transport has named and shamed Britain’s worst railway stations. The report shows that one passenger in two regards station facilities as inadequate.
Rail passengers are set to face fare rises of up to 15% from January 2010 as train companies begin to publish their new fares.
